President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed Defence Minister Frans Kapofi to oversee the portfolio of Industries, Mines and Energy on an interim basis.
In a statement, the Presidency announced that Minister Kapofi's appointment ensures continued leadership and coordination with the ministry central to the country's industrialisation agenda while allowing for the "orderly identification and appointment of a suitable candidate in due course."
On Sunday, President Nandi-Ndaitwah assumed direct responsibility of the ministry after relieving Natangue Ithete of his duties as minister.
The Presidency said this move was necessary to ensure continuity in leadership and uninterrupted delivery of services.
Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah extended well wishes to Minister Kapofi, adding that government work must proceed with discipline, urgency and the guiding principles of the 8th Administration and priorities under NDP6.
