Team Namibia returned home today after competing in the 12th edition of the World Para Athletics Championships, hosted in New Delhi, India, from the 27th of September to the 5th of October 2025.
Namibia was represented by 16 athletes and their guides, who proudly flew the national flag high on the world stage.
The Chief Administrator of the Namibia Sports Commission officially welcomed them at the Hosea Kutako International Airport.
Their collective efforts showcased determination, resilience, and the spirit of Namibian excellence.
The Interm Chairperson of the NNPC expressed satisfaction with the team's overall performance, noting their growth and competitive drive throughout the event.
The Team Manager shared, "At least all of them made it to the semi-finals, three of them reached the finals, and one of them brought home a silver medal for the team. This is a very good achievement."
Namibia's Paralympic icon, Ananias Shikongo, once again proved his class by storming into the men's 100m T11 final and securing a silver medal for the country.
Shikongo stated, "I really feel happy. When the government sends you somewhere and you don't come back with anything, it's a bit shameful-you also blame yourself because of the money spent. But this time around, I'm very happy to bring home a medal for my country."
Petrus Karuli, who competed in the men's T37 400m, reflected on his experience and lessons learned from the championship.
Karuli commented, "I am so thankful for the warm welcome. I'm still gaining experience, and even though I didn't win something, as an athlete with a strong mentality, I learned a lot and I'm ready to do better next time."
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Lahia Ipinge made a name for herself on the global stage after advancing to the finals in the women's T12 400m, marking a personal milestone in her athletic journey.
It was not an easy road for Team Namibia, but their performances in India demonstrated passion, perseverance, and pride.
As the athletes return home, they carry with them valuable experience and a renewed drive to shine even brighter at future international competitions.
