The Erongo Business and Tourism Expo is underway in Walvis Bay, with the patron calling on organisers of similar events to include and sponsor local small and medium enterprises by providing them with free stalls.
The expo is a major multi-sector trade and tourism event that brings together businesses, tourism service providers, and other stakeholders from the Erongo Region and beyond.
It has grown significantly since it began 16 years ago, starting with only 15 exhibitors. This year, there are more than 160 exhibitors, with organisers supporting 20 small- and medium-sized entrepreneurs by offering them free stalls.
Erongo Governor Natalia |Goagoses said, "This gesture demonstrates that the Expo is committed to empowering local entrepreneurs, promoting economic inclusion, and fostering self-reliance. I'm so proud of our Khoisan cultural groups that we saw this morning, who have been given a platform to celebrate and share their rich heritage at no cost. This collaboration reinforces the message that our diversity is our strength."
Among the consistent exhibitors over the past five years is the Indonesian Embassy, which believes the event provides a valuable platform to connect with Namibian industries and regional partners.
This year, organisers have added an extra day at the request of exhibitors, who commended the Expo as a platform that boosts their income and enhances networking opportunities.
