Algeria has pledged to share its vast experience and technical expertise in the energy sector with Namibia, particularly in the emerging field of green hydrogen development.
The commitment comes as the two nations celebrate 35 years of diplomatic relations, coinciding with Algeria's 71st anniversary of its revolution.
At the commemoration held in Windhoek, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Selma Ashipala-Musavyi hailed Algeria as a steadfast ally that stood shoulder to shoulder with Namibia during its liberation struggle and continues to do so during the country's economic transformation journey.
"Namibia attaches great importance to the upcoming session of the JCCS on days that we are still working on, which will provide an opportunity to review the ongoing cooperation and identify new areas for collaboration in the spirit of mutual benefit and solidarity. We share the same position, we champion the same course, and we will continue to do so."
Echoing this sentiment, Ambassador Abdelkrim Diaf of Algeria reaffirmed his nation's readiness to partner with Namibia in harnessing renewable resources.
"We see synergy in the area of energy as Namibia emerges as a global energy hub, especially in the area of green hydrogen. Algeria stands ready to share its wide expertise. Our recent ideas for the African Green Hydrogen Charter, signed right here in Windhoek, signify our commitment to building a sustainable future together."
The collaboration will include knowledge transfers, technology exchanges, and training opportunities.
Already, over 120 Namibian students have benefited from Algerian scholarships, with 85 more set to study there in the next academic year, deepening the human and cultural bonds between the two nations.
Algeria was among the first to train Namibian freedom fighters, and its early solidarity helped ignite Namibia's liberation flame.
Today, that same spirit of unity fuels cooperation in energy, mining, agriculture, and education, ensuring that the friendship forged in the fight for freedom now powers a future of innovation and sustainable growth.
