Information and Communication Technology Minister, Emma Theofelus, paid a courtesy visit to Ohamba Martha Nelumbu of the Oukwanyama Traditional Authority as part of her work mission in the Ohangwena Region.

Before entering the palace, the minister and her delegation stopped at the gravesite of the late Oukwanyama King, Mandume ya Ndemufayo, to pay their respects.

Theofelus, who led a visiting delegation, briefed Ohamba Nelumbu about her ministry's ongoing programmes and activities, including digital development, cyber security, youth empowerment, and efforts to improve communication infrastructure in the Ohangwena region.

"We came with a programme to establish network towers in areas that have no network coverage. We were in Epinga, where we have erected a new network tower. We chose that site because there is a clinic and a school, and the area has no network connection. Once we realised that the community urgently needed network access, the tower was built, and it became operational."

She further briefed Nelumbu on their successful work mission, explaining that she and her team from the ministry were in Eenhana to hold discussions with officials from across the Ohangwena region and other stakeholders regarding the need for, and the installation of, network towers, particularly at clinics and schools.

Theofelus donated food items, school supplies, toiletries, and other essentials to orphans and vulnerable children under the care of the royal house.

Nelumbu expressed her deepest gratitude for the gesture.
