The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) has launched an investigation into the alleged dumping of dead seals in the desert near Henties Bay.

Videos circulating on social media show what appear to be dead seals dumped in an undesignated area.

The seals are believed to have been harvested by a company operating in the Henties Bay area.

The Deputy Director of Parks for the Erongo and Kunene regions has confirmed that control wardens have been dispatched to the site to investigate the matter.

Christopher Munwela says the investigation will determine whether there was a violation of the law.

The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism has not yet confirmed how many seals were involved or whether any arrests have been made.
