Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi has officially launched the groundbreaking ceremony for Phase Four of the continuation and rehabilitation of the Eenhana–Ondobe tarred road in the Ohangwena Region.

Phases One, Two, and Three of the project have already been successfully completed, demonstrating the government’s capacity to deliver on its commitment to providing the Namibian people with safer and high-quality road infrastructure.

The completion of the first three phases stands as testimony to effective project management, quality workmanship, and strong collaboration between government, contractors, consultants, and local communities.

He said the launch of Phase Four indicates the government’s determination to build on a solid foundation of infrastructure development, recognised as one of the most powerful tools for economic transformation.

The remaining 30 kilometres of the road are valued at approximately N$390 million, fully funded by the Namibian government.

Funding the project is regarded as a valuable investment in national infrastructure, the people, the economy, and the country’s future.

Ohangwena Regional Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa said the project is not only transformative but also reflects the government’s collective vision to improve connectivity, enhance service delivery, and promote sustainable economic empowerment among the people.

Unik Construction Engineering Namibia has been appointed as the contractor responsible for executing the rehabilitation works.

The government expects the project to be completed within a 24-month period, with high standards of quality and efficiency.
