Police in the ||Kharas Region have stepped up festive operations by deploying officers to help prevent crime and ensure public safety during the Christmas period.

The briefing was held at the Keetmanshoop police station, where the Head of Crime Investigations Division, Nicodemus Mbango, addressed the officers.

"We will conduct our patrols on foot, in vehicles, and through stop-and-search operations to ensure that all drivers are screened. Our traffic officers' responsibility is to make sure the drivers on the public roads are screened. We prevent crime by educating our public. As they are leaving their houses, nobody will be left at home; it's our collective responsibility from the community side and from the police side to make sure we coordinate ourselves to provide security to their properties."

Police officers will mostly focus on shopping malls and liquor outlets.

He urged the officers to collaborate, safeguard the community, ensure a peaceful Christmas, and prevent the escalation of crime in the region.
