President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, on behalf of the Namibian government and her family, extended wishes for warmth, love, and togetherness to embrace families across Namibia.
Today marks Family Day, also known as the Day of Goodwill, highlighting the importance of family unity and quality time together.
Namibia's Constitution addresses the family unit in Article 14, guaranteeing the right to marry and found a family. It declares the family the fundamental unit of society, deserving state protection.
Wishing all a happy Family Day, the President said, "May the values of selfless care, empathy, and unity take centre stage in the daily lives of all families. Families form the bedrock of a nation."
She emphasised that, as families spend time together, they should appreciate and support one another, recognise members' struggles, and extend a helping hand when needed.
The Head of State added that when bonds of love and solidarity within families are strong, the nation grows stronger.
