Special Olympics Namibia experienced a highly productive and impactful year, marked by participation in international World Cups and national recognition after winning two awards at the Namibia Sports Awards.

Levien Smit, National Director: Special Olympics Namibia, reflects on the progress made. Throughout the year, the organization hosted back-to-back events aimed at promoting inclusion through sport.

A major highlight was the hosting of the first-ever Unified Volleyball event, which brought together athletes with physical disabilities as well as those with intellectual disabilities. "It was a good year; we have been busy back to back," Smit noted.

Beyond competition, Special Olympics Namibia also strengthened athlete support by partnering with Central Hospital, enabling athletes to take part in occupational therapy programmes during the off-season. This ensured holistic development both on and off the field. "We partnered with Special Olympics Germany," Smit added regarding their international collaborations.

As the year comes to a close, Special Olympics Namibia reflects on a season of growth, collaboration, and achievement. With expanded regional reach, strong international partnerships, and a continued commitment to inclusive sport, the organization is well positioned to build on this momentum and make an even greater impact in the year ahead.
