Residents of Rehoboth have been urged to identify and address the root causes of the high use and dealing of drugs in the town.

Rehoboth Town Council chairperson Gaob Kawango said the drug problem cannot be resolved without collective community involvement and a clear understanding of the factors driving substance abuse.

Kawango said the council has made deliberate efforts to empower young people as part of its strategy to curb drug abuse and drug dealing. He explained that youth empowerment remains central to the council’s approach to building a safer and more sustainable community.

He described the widespread use and trafficking of drugs in Rehoboth as a social evil that requires decisive action from all stakeholders, including family members, community leaders, law enforcement agencies, and civil society organisations.
