Students with outstanding balances at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) will still be required to settle their previous debts before registering, despite the introduction of the government’s new Subsidised Tertiary Funding Model.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, NUST also said that students who failed the previous academic year are also expected to pay the applicable fees in order to register.

NUST said it has adjusted its registration systems to align with the revised eligibility criteria announced by the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts, and Culture.

NUST further said that students who qualify under the Subsidised Tertiary Funding Model and have already paid registration fees will be refunded, subject to a verification process.

The university said the funding model applies to all primary undergraduate qualifications, including bridging programmes and the Introduction to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (InSTEM).
