The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Trade, Jenelly Matundu, says all companies participating in the Africa Free Trade Area are required to register with the Namibia Revenue Agency.

This is to ensure that they comply with the Rules of Origin and other relevant protocols.

Matundu says Namibia's successful dispatch of its first consignment under the agreement in June last year symbolises a historic milestone, paving the way for all exporters to benefit from the agreement.

She encouraged traders to export value-added goods in their respective sectors.

"The government continues to provide a sound environment to trade and to negotiate favourable markets for exports. However, businesses need to take the opportunity created through preferential market access and export their goods and services in the African market."

Matundu states there are no restrictions on the type of products that can be traded, as long as these meet the set-out requirements.
