QKR Navachab Gold Mine donated industrial equipment worth N$250,000 to the Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology -NIMT in Arandis.

The donation is aimed at strengthening practical skills development for future artisans and technicians.

Speaking on behalf of Managing Director George Botshiwe, the Senior Public Relations and Communications Officer McLyn Kasale said the donation forms part of the mine's commitment to education and training.

"Today's donation of one lathe, one milling machine and one bandsaw - fully functional equipment valued at approximately N$250,000 - is a practical demonstration of this commitment. We are confident this equipment will serve as an invaluable training resource for students pursuing fitting and turning and other technical disciplines."

Kasale noted that sustainable mining goes beyond resource extraction and includes investing in people and building national technical capacity.

He added that many of the mine's artisans and apprentices are graduates of NIMT and are supported through structured internship programmes under an existing partnership agreement.

NIMT's Acting Principal at the Engineering Campus, Randy Erkana welcomed the donation, describing it as an investment in Namibia's future workforce.

"With these machines, our trainees will develop precision, discipline, and hands-on competence - the exact qualities industry demands. This donation strengthens the bridge between industry and training institutions. It sends a powerful message: that industry believes in developing local capacity, not just extracting resources. "

The institution indicated that the equipment will immediately enhance workshop training and strengthen the link between classroom learning and industry standards.
