In an effort to improve teaching and learning, Karaku Marine has donated teaching and learning support materials to Outjo Project Primary School.
The equipment will provide learners with sufficient study resources and promote discipline and structure within the school.
Outjo Project Primary School was established last year to accommodate the growing number of learners in the town.
The school has four classrooms, while some learners are taught in tents, although construction of more classrooms is underway to accommodate all 220 learners.
The company's director, Ignatius Tjipura, says the donation is more than just providing equipment.
"An investment in education is an investment in discipline, knowledge, leadership, and version development, and more importantly, hope. We did not stop at donating a machine alone. We added a spare ink cartridge in three boxes of copy paper, which come out to 15 reams, because donating a photocopy machine without paper will be like donating a gun without bullets and expecting somebody to hunt."
Tjipura explained that as a company operating in the fisheries sector, Karaku Marine recognises that marine resources belong to the people.
The Education Inspector for Outjo Circuit, Thomas Amutenya, welcomed the donation, emphasising that education is a collective responsibility.
"The donation of the copy machine came at the right time because the school was just established and it's still on its knees. Lack of resources is one of the challenges."
He encouraged learners to use the items responsibly and to strive toward achieving their educational goals.
