Grootfontein Education Circuit Inspector Markus Munenge has announced that construction works for schools and classroom blocks in the circuit are going well and nearing completion.
Munenge made the remarks at the groundbreaking of a new hostel for Otjiwanda Secondary School.
The new development will address overcrowding.
In addition, the construction of the Grootfontein Primary School will soon be completed.
Construction of classrooms at Luiperdheuwel and Omulunga Primary Schools is also nearing completion.
Grootfontein Primary School will have 10 classrooms.
"Just next to Frederick Awaseb, construction started. I think it was in 2024, yeah, and we are moving towards the completion of the whole project. It's a primary school that will accommodate learners from pre-primary up to grade 7. On top of that, we have sanctioned the construction of three classrooms at Luiperdheuwel Primary School and also three classrooms at Omulunga Primary School.
Munenge said about 120 Grade 8 learners in the circuit are yet to be placed.
"I think so far it's still going very well, but our plan is to say that small open space, when you are moving from this state hospital, you have Grootfontein Guesthouse; there is that open space there. Yeah, so that is where we are planning to construct a new secondary school, which will have about 26 classrooms, an administration block, a library, and a laboratory. the state-of-the-art school as well that we are pumping the resources into."
The construction of infrastructure is part of the N$43 million set aside in the last financial year.
