The Ministry of Works and Transport has revealed in the National Assembly that they are engaging with the Office of the Attorney General to hold e-hailing companies accountable for permitting illegal operators on their platforms.

Minister Veikko Nekundi said the ministry's officials accessed no e-hailing platform systems; they received only hard copies with unverified information about deregistered operators.

"The Ministry of Work and Transport is engaged to finalise, through the process, the Public Passenger Transport Bill, which is forward-looking legislation that will cover all these aspects and modernise the public transport industry in this legislative process."

The minister says they are in the process of determining which legal route to take, adding that they will also engage with the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.
