Namibian tennis players received a boost this week after former world No. 12 doubles player and ATP/WTA coach Jeff Coetzee concluded a three-day high-performance training camp in Windhoek on 25 February.
Coetzee, a former ATP Tour doubles specialist who won six career titles and reached the semifinals of the Australian Open in doubles, shared his experience from the international circuit.
Since retiring as a player, he has worked as an ATP and WTA coach with professional players.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the Namibia Tennis Association to improve the level of local tennis and help players prepare for international competition.
During the three days, players trained on doubles structures, point construction and professional training methods.
The camp also focused on discipline, match awareness and structured player development.
For many of the young players, the opportunity to train under a coach with Grand Slam experience provided valuable exposure and learning.
