The Governor of the |Khomas Region has called for unity and accountability in driving the region’s Integrated Development Plan.

Sam Nujoma addressed a stakeholder consultation gathering in Windhoek.

The Governor proposed new platforms, including an annual regional leadership forum and a stakeholder conference, to strengthen coordination, monitor progress, and improve service delivery.

“Leadership should rally under the mantra: my commerce, my region, my pride—a call to action that places our shared identity and responsibility at the forefront of development. As our founding father wisely stated, a people united, striving to achieve a common good for all members of society, will always be victorious.”

The Chief Regional Officer, Clemens Mafwila, stressed that the plan is aimed at improving living standards and delivering results for residents.

He said the region has a clear mandate from the people and must act collectively to achieve it.

Mafwila highlighted priorities such as aligning development plans with national frameworks, improving operational efficiency, and addressing implementation gaps.

“We are the first region to work on a regional development plan. There was a gap. There is a national development plan, and the governor had to identify what plan we have as a region. In the absence of that, it became clear that we need to develop our own.”

For the plan to succeed, key sectors must be deliberately integrated.

“NBC, you are our key stakeholders in this. There is so much power in the media. We want to capitalise on the use of media for the right reasons. We do not want misleading coverage or front-page highlights that do not serve the interests of the community,” added the council’s Developer Planner, Rieky-Loo Alfeus.

Both leaders and presenters emphasised that success and tangible development outcomes will depend on unified action.
