President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is at the family residence of the late James Unomasa Uerikua in Herero Location, Katutura, where she is paying respects and offering condolences to the grieving family.

Also attending are Vice President Lucia Witbooi, Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare, the newly appointed Minister in the Presidency Dr. Charles Mubita, Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Sanet Steenkamp and her deputy Dino Ballotti, Minister of Gender Equality and Child Welfare Emma Kantema, and other senior government officials.

Uerikua served as a parliamentarian in the National Assembly and was the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on International Relations, Defence and Security.

He previously served as governor of the Otjozondjupa Region from 2020 to 2025, where he was involved in regional administration and development.

Earlier in his career, Uerikua worked for the government as a development planner in the Office of the Vice President and was involved in programmes targeting marginalised communities.
