The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and Road Fund Administration (RFA) are joining forces to advance research and innovation in Namibia's road sector.

The two entities signed a N$10 million funding agreement to that effect.

In line with the partnership, the RFA will invest over N$2 million annually for the next five years. Namibia's road sector will benefit from the funds, which will strengthen research, innovation, and capacity development.

The agreement aims to address infrastructure challenges related to road financing, maintenance, and sustainability.

The partnership focuses on the development of alternative revenue streams, public-private partnership models, research into climate-resilient road infrastructure and funding mechanisms.

Evaluation of sustainable construction materials and cost-effective maintenance approaches, and strengthening of laboratory capacity and technical research infrastructure.
