A businessman in the Kaliyangile area of Sibbinda Constituency, Zambezi Region, received tailoring materials valued at N$9,600 from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare's income-generating activity (IGA) project.
Hastings Liseho started his business 11 years ago and has steadily expanded it over the years. He recalls that his initial workshop was under a tree at home; fortunately, by last year, he had saved enough to build a permanent structure.
Liseho attributes his success to community support. He encourages youth and women in his area to pursue businesses relentlessly, noting that many people start projects but quit too early.
Eight beneficiaries were recommended from constituencies across the Zambezi Region, with total funding of N$77,000 from the IGA project.
Sibbinda Constituency Councillor Matengu Nkando said the initiative is inspiring but funding for local projects remains inadequate.
