The modern world order has ushered in a need for countries and international organisations to cooperate to secure peace and avoid major conflicts and instability, as witnessed in the Cold War era.
This was said by the Chief of Defence Force, Air Marshal Martin Pinehas, during the accreditation ceremony of new Defence Attachés at the Defence head office today.
The Chief of Defence Force highlighted that defence diplomacy and excellent relations are effective and vital instruments for promoting international cooperation, peace, and security.
"As military officers playing our part through the strengthening of military-to-military cooperation, because when we cooperate at the level of military, we can also in a way ensure world peace because we understand each other and solve problems before they even occur and world security, so it is very important to understand that the role that we play as defence attachés/advisors is that of strengthening relations between countries."
The newly accredited defence attachés are Colonel Abraham Koagile from Botswana, Colonel Murat Uyanik from Turkey, Brigadier General Victor Chiboma from Zambia, and Group Captain Dakarai Muraicho from Zimbabwe.
The four defence attachés are expected to manage bilateral military relations and promote their national military interests.
