After two hefty increases over the past two months, there is some relief for the motorist as fuel pump prices remain unchanged for the month of June.

The Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy (MIME), Modestus Amutse, made the announcement today.

Minister Amutse, during a media briefing at Oshakati, also addressed the status of fuel supply security amid ongoing geopolitical tensions affecting global fuel markets.

"The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy has completed a review of the fuel price for June 2026 and hereby informs the Namibian public and all stakeholders of its decision. And that is to say the government has made a decision to keep fuel pump prices for June unchanged based on the provisional outcome of the fuel price review. That should be better news for the country. The ministry wishes to reassure the nation that Namibia currently maintains adequate full stocks and that there is no immediate risk of fuel shortages in the country."

Amutse says tighter global fuel inventories and increased seasonal demand ahead of the Northern Hemisphere summer placed upward pressure on international petroleum prices.

Fluctuations in crude oil and refined petroleum product prices resulted in under-recoveries on petrol and over-recoveries on diesel, while lower shipping costs and exchange rate movements helped ease pressure on the domestic fuel pricing mechanism.

Namibia's current fuel pump prices, therefore, remain at N$23.48 per litre for petrol (ULP95), N$28.26 per litre for diesel 50 ppm, and N$28.36 per litre for diesel 10 ppm.

The briefing comes as many countries continue to experience fuel pricing pressures linked to international geopolitical developments.
