NBC Sport caught up with both teams after the match, with Wanderers coach Darryl de la Harpe praising his side's discipline, execution of the game plan, and commitment throughout the 80 minutes.
"The boys stuck to the structures we worked on during the week. We are pleased with the result, but there are still areas we can improve as we continue building for the rest of the season."
Wanderers captain Danco Burger also reflected on the team's performance, highlighting the collective effort that contributed to the victory.
"It was a good team performance. Everyone played their part, and we maintained our intensity from start to finish. We're happy with the win and the points, but we know tougher challenges lie ahead."
Meanwhile, Western Suburbs coach Jood Opperman acknowledged that his side faced a difficult afternoon and stressed the importance of learning from the defeat.
"Credit to Wanderers for the way they played. For us, it's back to the drawing board. We need to address our mistakes, improve our execution, and come back stronger in the next match."
Western Suburbs captain Morgan Esterhuizen echoed those sentiments, saying the team remains determined despite the result.
"It's a tough result to accept, but we have to stay positive. We will review the game, work on our weaknesses, and focus on improving for the next fixture."
