The Coalition of Affiliate Organisations and Regional Youth Forums supporting Simon Taapopi's bid for Executive Chairperson of the National Youth Council of Namibia says the 3rd General Assembly, convened in Swakopmund, was disrupted during the election phase after accredited procedures had already been adopted.

The President of the Namibia Christian Students Association Luciano Kambala, said a delegate list published by the council was adopted at the start of proceedings and used to guide participation in the election process.

He alleged that individuals who were not accredited delegates entered the venue as voting was about to begin and moved onto the stage.

Kambalawhi further alleged that electoral officials from the Interim Board were physically confronted and that a chair was thrown at one of the officials.

He argued that the electoral process should continue based on the adopted delegate list and provisions of the National Youth Council Act.

The coalition has directed its demands to the President, Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture Sanet Steenkamp, and the National Youth Council.

It is calling for the continuation of the electoral process, investigations, medical care for those affected, and security arrangements for delegates.

The coalition maintains that the electoral process was lawfully convened and should proceed without interruption.
