The Coalition of Affiliate Organisations and Regional Youth Forums supporting Simon Taapopi's bid for Executive Chairperson of the National Youth Council of Namibia says the 3rd General Assembly, convened in Swakopmund, was disrupted during the election phase after accredited procedures had already been adopted.
The Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture, Sanet Steenkamp, has postponed the National Youth Council General Assembly following disruptions during proceedings in Swakopmund.
Delegates to the General Assembly in Rietfontein also appointed an interim board, vowing to maintain their position in the ongoing struggle for control of the National Youth Council (NYC).
Delegates say they will rally behind their elected interim board, which was elected on Sunday.
The UN General Assembly has started with renewed calls for reform of multilateral institutions, including the UN Security Council, in line with the changing socio-economic and political landscape of the world.
