Namibia and South Africa will discuss ways to remove barriers to cross-border trade and improve transport and logistics to support the seamless movement of processed goods.
The discussions will take place at the South Africa-Namibia Business Forum on 17 July in Johannesburg as part of the Bi-National Commission (BNC) programme.
According to the Acting Deputy Director‑General of Exports at South Africa's Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, bilateral relations should increasingly prioritise implementing the Southern African Customs Union Industrialisation Strategy and the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
Willem Van der Spuy says the goal is to promote regional value chains, grow national economies and create jobs by tapping manufacturing and export potential in sectors such as agriculture and agro‑processing, clothing, textiles and footwear.
The Forum will examine how Namibia and South Africa can leverage complementary strengths to build resilient regional ecosystems, promote value addition and accelerate industrialisation in priority sectors.
The platform will bring together representatives from both countries to collaborate on strengthening trade and investment under the theme "Driving Regional Industrialisation, Investment and Sustainable Growth Through Strategic South Africa-Namibia Partnerships".
