The Democratic Republic of Congo's Ambassador to Botswana, Patrick Mutombo, has positioned the country as a strategic hub ripe for investment despite the raging war in other provinces.
Though endowed with critical minerals, political and economic instability has, over the years, scared away potential investors from investing in the central African nation.
Speaking at the DRC's 66th independence celebrations in Gaborone recently, Mutombo said the former Belgian colony offers an avalanche of investment opportunities.
Mutombo said the current administration is committed to implementing reforms aimed at improving the investment climate and invited investors to consider the French-speaking country.
"The Democratic Republic of Congo remains one of the most strategic countries on the African continent. We have got a land area exceeding two million square kilometres, a population of over 116 million and a geographical location at the heart of the African continent. Our country constitutes a continent within a continent. Today, under the leadership of President (Felix) Tshisekedi, the Democratic Republic of Congo is a go-to country endowed with critical minerals poised to become a driving force in the world."
Just over a month ago, DRC approved an expansion of its list of strategic mineral substances, following the validation of a draft decree by the Council of Ministers to include tantalum, niobium, tungsten, lithium, uranium, and rare earth elements.
