The August 26 Construction has handed over a Life Skills classroom and a storeroom at Windhoek's Orban Primary School.

Learners have for many years been moving from one class to another to attend life skills lessons.

A Quantity Surveyor of August 26 Construction Gabriel Nandjingwa explained.

“Through the corporate social initiatives projects, we are assisting the government in achieving the goals of Namibia's Sixth National Development Goals, specifically in education infrastructure and human capital development by expanding access to quality and inclusive primary education.”

The Director of Education Paulus Nghikembua, stressed that the new building will improve access to education and provide proper facilities for learners' consultations and counselling.

“We have a duty to develop our learners holistically, and we can achieve this through our Life Skills teachers. However, we can only fulfil this responsibility if we have appropriate rooms and facilities for one-on-one counselling and guidance, as well as an environment where learners feel safe and supported.”

Orban Primary School Principal Jan Cloete expressed gratitude to August 26 Construction for the gesture.

“We are truly and deeply grateful to have you share this momentous milestone with us. Education has always been about more than just textbooks, dear parents, learners, colleagues, and academics, or examinations. It is about preparing our young minds and learners to navigate the complexities of the world with confidence, resilience, and practical knowledge. This new Life Skills facility represents our commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals. In this space, our learners will acquire essential life skills, from critical thinking and decision-making to personal growth and self-reliance. These skills will serve them well beyond their school years.”
