The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, Inge Zaamwani has urged Aminuis farmers to embrace innovation, resilience, and continuous improvement to advance the local farming sector.
Speaking at the 22nd Aminuis Agricultural and Industrial Show 2026, Zaamwani emphasised that modern agriculture must now extend far beyond basic crop cultivation and livestock rearing.
Minister Zaamwani praised the Aminuis community for hosting one of its biggest exhibitions in decades, despite facing persistent droughts.
She noted that the livestock on display rivalled the quality seen in far larger settlements.
According to the minister, this exceptional turnout proves that local farmers are maintaining a legacy of excellence through hard work and responsible stewardship, even during the toughest environmental times.
"This pursuit of excellence is central to Namibias six national development plan which identifies agriculture as a strategic priority to drive inclusive economic growth, create employment strengthen food and nutrition security and advance rural livelihoods , achieving these national aspirations requires excellence in planing ,production value addition service delivery and partnership at every point a long the value chain from the communal kraal here in Aminuis to the export market beyond our borders."
Zaamwani added that the communal areas of Omaheke and Aminuis constituencies in particular carry a significant share of Namibia's small stock and contribute heavily to the national livestock sector, and they have to continue with this good record.
The Omaheke Governor, Pijoo Nganate, pointed out that agriculture is not merely about production, but it is about creating opportunities, improving livelihoods and building resilient communities.
"As a governor of the Omaheke Region I remains encouraged by the continued growth of this exhibition and the increasing participation of farmers youth, women financial institutions government institutions development partners and the private sectors , this growing participation confirms that the agriculture remains one not the strongest pillars of our regional economy."
Chairperson of the Aminuis Farmers Association, Garden Hengua, appealed to government and private sectors to continue with supportive partnerships for local farmers in order for them to improve on their agricultural inputs.
"We need investment in the provision of farming equipment, animal fodder seeds training irrigation schemes storage facilities and in agro processing the development of road and other infrastructure is all key catalyst to even take agriculture to even higher level."
This year's 22nd Aminuis Agricultural and Industrial Show was held under the theme 'Cultivating a legacy of excellence'.
