The Khorixas Town Council has called on businesses, financial institutions, development partners and the community to support the upcoming Khorixas Trade Fair, aimed at promoting investment, entrepreneurship and sustainable economic growth in the town.

Speaking at the Khorixas Trade Fair Fundraising Gala Dinner held under the theme "Creating a Path to Sustainable Growth", Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development Evelyn !Nawases-Taeyele said the theme reflects the economic trajectory of Khorixas and the opportunities emerging in the town.

"We are here to bring services closer to our people. We are here to provide land plots to our people to build houses. We are here to provide water and electricity to our people. So this type of initiative assists the local authorities not only to depend on the central government but also to come up with their own initiatives to serve their people better."

!Nawases-Taeyele stressed that sustainable development requires a balance between economic growth, environmental protection and social inclusion.

She further said the trade fair could provide a platform for local enterprises to network and attract investment.

"Events such as the envisaged trade fair will serve as a platform to unlock that potential. In the same vein, youth empowerment should not be regarded as a mere thought but a priority and foundation of our national progress. We must invest in skills development, mentorship and access to markets for young entrepreneurs."

Organisers say the gala dinner raised over N$208,000 in pledges towards the hosting of Khorixas Trade Fair scheduled to take place from the 26th to the 31st of next month.
