The Uukwaluudhi Traditional Authority has urged the NBC to decentralise its services in order to better accommodate its listeners and viewers, particularly those in the most remote rural areas who struggle to access these services.

The traditional authority made the call to the NBC delegation, led by Director General Menesia Muinjo and comprising some members of senior management, who visited the Uukwaluudhi Palace in the Omusati Region this afternoon.

Speaking during the engagement, Johannes Ndudu, a senior traditional councillor, said challenges such as insufficient coverage and lack of frequency for both radio and television remain areas of concern that need to be addressed.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Omunyekadhi of the traditional authority, Nandjala Taapopi, requested that spouses of traditional authority leaders also be given airtime to speak on issues affecting their communities. He noted that they are currently limited and have no idea how to get their voices out through the NBC’s various platforms.

The traditional authority also congratulated the Director General on her new role and said her visit to the palace is historic. They added that they are looking forward to better cooperation with the NBC in order to reach their subjects in both urban and rural areas.
