|Khomas Region is exploring Serbia's agricultural experience and technical expertise as it looks at ways to strengthen local production, skills development and value addition.

A delegation from the |Khomas Region, led by Governor Sam Nujoma, recently concluded a reciprocal official engagement in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in the Republic of Serbia, with agriculture featuring prominently throughout the programme.

Discussions covered agricultural production, agro-processing, irrigation, seed development and the exchange of technical expertise.

The engagement also explored opportunities for agricultural research and the testing of suitable crop varieties under Namibian conditions, subject to the necessary assessments and procedures, as well as specialised training, student exchanges and academic cooperation.

Beyond agriculture, discussions also covered science and technology, tourism and trade, with opportunities identified for wider institutional, technical and business exchanges.

The engagement builds on an earlier visit to Namibia by a delegation from the Provincial Government of Vojvodina, led by its President, Maja Gojković, in April this year.

During that visit, the two regions signed a Letter of Intent on establishing friendly relations and cooperation, laying the foundation for continued engagement.

The latest engagement provided an opportunity to explore how the relationship can translate into practical cooperation.
