Residents of Orwetoveni in Otjiwarongo have raised concern over medical waste and contaminated laundry being dumped outside the Orwetoveni Clinic.

Residents say the situation poses a health hazard, particularly for children who play in the surrounding area.

Medical waste could be seen next to a waste container just outside the clinic, which includes linen, injections and syringes.

The residents are now afraid that children playing close to the dumpsite could come in contact with hazardous materials.

The waste is also close to a school premises; hence, the concern about the safety of children.

Otjozondjupa Health Director Gebhardo Timoteus expressed shock about the situation.

He promised to revert to NBC News after establishing the necessary information about what was happening.
