NS Warriors FC and Lucky Stars FC are intensifying preparations for the new league season in Divundu, using a weekend friendly to assess fitness, teamwork, and overall match readiness while awaiting confirmation of the official league kick-off date.

The two clubs enter the upcoming campaign from contrasting positions following their respective results last season. NS Warriors FC earned promotion to a higher division, while Lucky Stars FC suffered relegation after spending a single season in the Second Division.

Their friendly fixture provided both sides with a crucial benchmark to measure progress. For NS Warriors, the match served as a test for higher-level competition, whereas Lucky Stars utilized the opportunity to assess their rebuilding efforts.

Established in 2009, NS Warriors currently boasts a squad of 60 players, including eight new signings, and recently celebrated winning the Ndjakeko Tournament in Andara. Despite their on-pitch success, the club continues to navigate shortages of basic training equipment. Head coach Christian Thapa noted that additional support, including incoming sponsorship assistance from Blue Berries to provide essential gear like training bibs and resources, will significantly bolster team operations.

Meanwhile, Lucky Stars FC remains fully focused on reversing last season's setback and securing an immediate return to the Second Division. Established in 1979, the club maintains a roster of approximately 30 players, supplemented by two new additions. Team manager Herculeano Mwenyo reaffirmed that gaining promotion back to the Second Division remains the team's primary objective for the campaign.

Beyond tactical evaluation, the friendly match highlighted key areas requiring attention before competitive play resumes, with both technical teams prioritizing improved physical fitness and training consistency.
