Wuparo Conservancy in the Zambezi Region has generated more than N$2,8 million from tourism, trophy hunting and the harvesting of natural plant products between January and October this year.
Conservancy Manager Beven Muyenga revealed this during the conservancy's Annual General Meeting.
According to the financial report, tourism contributed one-comma-three million dollars and trophy hunting N$1,5 million.
The harvesting and sale of natural plant products, particularly devil's claws contributed N$5,700.
"We constructed a staffroom at Samudono and a kindergarten at Samalabi, while assisting Bushbucks with
N$10,000, and drilled one borehole at Samudono as well as installing two pumps."
The conservancy however continues to face challenges that threaten wildlife conservation and tourism activities.
This include water scarcity, poor roads to access lodges and theft of submersible pumps.
The financial report shows that N$690,279 was paid out in human-wildlife conflict compensation to 130 members.
