China's ambassador, Zhao Weiping, says Namibia and China are advancing cooperation in trade, agriculture, infrastructure development and education.
China is preparing to send a team of experts to Namibia to assess local table grape production areas for anticipated exports to the Chinese market.
China and Namibia are strengthening bilateral cooperation following President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's state visit to China in July this year.
Weiping says the president's state visit to China marked a significant milestone in relations between the two countries.
He also says both countries are now working to implement agreements reached during the visit.
"And in the area of development cooperation, the two sides are expected to sign an implementation agreement on the police housing project very soon. The two sides have already signed the exchange of letters on the smart city pilot project."
The ambassador says China remains open to supporting Namibia's efforts to fight Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), acknowledging its economic impact and disruptions in the dairy industry.
He, however, says that the Chinese government will continue monitoring developments and remains open to providing assistance, as it has done in previous food emergency situations.
"For the cases of FMD found here in the media that have indeed caused some serious losses, and I think also it caused some complicated situations concerning the development of your dairy industry here, and we are watching the situation very closely, and I, the Namibian government, have been working very hard to tackle this problem."
He also noted that China has taken note of Namibia's strategy to diversify its energy mix, saying Chinese companies are already involved in a joint wind power generation project near Lüderitz.
"China, energy construction or something. Sorry, I don't have the actual name of the company for you, but they have invested in a joint with the wind power generating project somewhere near Lüderitz."
