President Hage Geingob is calling on Namibians and the citizens of the SADC region at large to nurture and intensify a culture of peace and stability.
Dr Geingob's call comes as the world marks the United Nations International Day of Non-Violence on the 2nd of October.
The day, which is also the birthday of the Indian anti-colonialist leader, Mahatma Gandhi, is an occasion to disseminate the message of non-violence through education and public awareness and reaffirm the desire for a culture of peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence.
President Geingob took to social media to emphasise the importance of peace, saying it is a precious but fragile gift.
Dr Geingob reiterated his clarion call that it is easier to destroy than to build.
