Omaheke Regional Governor Pijoo Nganate will lead a delegation of various roleplayers in the region on a week-long benchmarking mission to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, later this month.
The governor told nbc News in an exclusive interview that the visit is to go and identify areas for potential economic cooperation and advancement in line with a bilateral agreement signed back in December 2019.
Nganate says the idea is to form a formidable partnership between the Omaheke Region and the Bulawayo Metropolitan Province to advance a developmental agenda. "The aim is to go benchmark on the dairy products industry in Zimbabwe and also to look at various other industries we want to tap into as a region, and that's necessitated by the drive of the region to fight hunger, fight unemployment and the high rate of underdevelopment in rural areas."
The governor added that it would be expected for the delegates to come back and share their gained skills with others in the region.
Some of the local dairy farmers that will form part of the mission to Zimbabwe say the envisaged visit comes at an opportune time as the industry is a demanding one indeed.
