NEFF Commissar Michael Amushelelo, in a short reply to nbc News, explained why he is unable to support the G4S workers who downed tools on Monday morning.
"The situation is as follows: the regime has given instructions to the police that I should be arrested if I show up at G4S Security to show solidarity with the workers. Despite the orders, I showed up to show the workers that no amount of intimidation and threats would deter me from showing solidarity with my fellow Namibians. We have written a formal notice to the police that will allow me to partake in the legal public gathering and to the workers of G4S. I urge you to remain united. I will never sell out my people and I have stated on various occasions that I am not scared of the evil regime that is busy selling out our people," wrote Amushelelo via a WhatsApp text.
The G4S workers are demanding better salaries.
Nbc could not get a comment from the company as calls to their PR department were hung up.
