The annual Namibia Sport Expo is set to take place from the 8th till the 11th of December at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund.
A press conference held at the Namibia Sport Commission on Tuesday revealed some of the details.
The Namibia Sport Expo is a 4-day event that was established to empower and inspire all Namibians through sport. It is of national and international importance as its aim is to bring together talented Namibians, and key regional and global sport stakeholders. It also generates significant value for all participants.
MTC Dome sports director Ulla Finkeldey explained why the sport expo will benefit Namibians.
“The MTC Dome stands for a landmark in Namibia, we want to create a landmark not just for Namibia, but also for Namibians. Our values are to bring people together and will the sport expo that dream is becoming a reality. We want to showcase the variety of sport codes that exist in Namibia because most Namibians don't even the stars of their own country we all know Usain Bolt” Finkeldey explained.
Frans Engelbrecht, MTC Dome CEO, is already excited about the collaboration.
“This collaboration will bring the MTC Dome, it's facilities, it's services, the people with passion close to the federations to make it a home for them that they can start to use it. The MTC Dome is there for the athletes, we have wonderful facilities and services. I'm very excited about this agreement this collaboration and I want to thank Freddy for that and for the vision and the leadership from the sport commission” Engelbrecht said.
The collaboration between the Namibia Sports Commission and the MTC Dome forms part of a three-year contract.
