Swakopmund-based Fillemon Nghutenanye retained his WBA Pan Africa Flyweight title by flooring Ally Ngwando in the 7th round of their fight this weekend.
Ahead of the fight, 27-year-old Fillemon Nghutenanye of the MTA Boxing Gym had a record of winning 9 out of his 10 fights, with one draw.
His challenger Ally Ngwando, who is only 19 years old, also had an impressive record of 8 wins, 2 draws and one loss.
The bout started well and made it difficult for one to judge, especially at an early stage, who would win.
The challenger used all kinds of tricks to get to the champion, injuring Nghutenanye's right arm in the process.
However, the Namibian boxer who had the advantage of the large crowd supporting him had other plans.
His timely body punch in the 7th round was enough to floor his challenger and end the fight.
