Vertice MedTech Namibia has donated medical equipment to the value of N$135 000 to the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

The donation is meant to help the Health Ministry improve the quality of its cardiovascular care offered, in accordance with the World Health Organization for Prevention of Cardiovascular disease.

The donation comprises five Zephyr single-chamber Abbott Pacemaker kits with pacemakers among others.

A pacemaker is a small, battery-operated device that senses when the heart is beating irregularly or too slowly.

It then sends a signal to the heart causing it to adjust the heartbeat to the correct pace.

The Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services,  Esther Muinjangue said, the donation will save lives in many ways, and improve the quality of life for heart patients. 

"The value for money of this investment will find expression in the number of patients that will benefit from the donated equipment and the number of lives that will be saved. Your donation will forever be held in high regard in the memory of the Government."

The Executive Director at Vertice MedTech, Charine Spyron said, as a private entity they joined the Ministry of Health in improving health service.

"The lives that are being changed by giving a second chance to be able to carry on being a mother, a grandmother, father, husband and a wife, that is worth so much more."
