The Head of the Namibian Police's Criminal Investigation Directorate has acknowledged that little progress has been made in solving some of the country's most horrific murder cases, crimes that have shaken the nation over the years.

Commissioner Theophilus Mayumbelo revealed that although a special task force was initially established to investigate these murders, internal restructuring and staff reassignments within the police force eventually led to the team's disbandment.

NBC News inquired about several unresolved cases, including that of Oswyn Myne Seibeb, a Karibib resident whose mutilated body was found dumped in the town’s sewage dam in 2022.

Another case involves young Avihe Ujaha, whose dismembered remains were discovered scattered across parts of Windhoek in 2018.

Nbc News also sought updates on the investigation into the murder of Magdalena Stoffels, a David Bezuidenhout High School learner who was raped and killed in a Khomasdal riverbed in 2010.

Additionally, the news outlet requested an update on the case of Mandela "Spence" Nakale, a young boy who went missing in Lüderitz in 2020.

Commissioner Mayumbelo revealed that Nampol is considering forming another task force to reopen investigations into these horrifying crimes.
