President Hage Geingob will join fellow African and US leaders for the Africa-US Summit starting this week.
The Summit aims to strengthen dialogue and relations between the African continent and the USA.
It is further expected to review a number of partnership agreements between Africa and the US, based on global priorities.
According to the statement released by the White House, other discussions at the summit will focus on existing challenges with regard to peace and security, poverty alleviation, climate change as well as the leveraging of the African Continental Free Trade Area by businesses.
The Namibian Presidency says the US-Africa Summit provides an excellent opportunity for emerging economies
such as Namibia to strengthen existing bilateral relations, mobilise investments to drive industrialisation, and enable the country to address unemployment and economic imbalances.
The Namibian Presidency in a statement confirmed that President Geingob will hold a meeting with the President of USA, Joe Biden.
The meeting is expected to focus on the
inter-regional hydrogen backbone and transmission lines.
The President is accompanied by Cabinet Ministers, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Dr Kalumbi Shangula, Agnes Tjongarero, Tom Alweendo and the DG of National Planning Commission, Obeth Kandjoze and senior government officials.
