A committee member of the Eiseb Farmers Association, Zambia Kavari, has called on fellow farmers to work hard and improve the quality of livestock.

Kavari said the association is also working tirelessly to assist the farming community in organizing livestock marketing days where they can share crucial information to better their livelihoods.

According to Kavari, agriculture, as the majority's main source of income, requires special attention, particularly in improving livestock quality to provide farmers with good returns.

He says the farming community needs to move away from keeping large herds of cattle and focus on producing quality breeds.

The association is targeting farmers' information days to arm them with the necessary information.

"Farmers' Information Days are very vital days that open up farmers, as this provides information that will assist us greatly. Even something like how to supplement and vaccinate our livestock these days is like a school to us, so it's one of the tasks for newly appointed members of the association to work on," he said, adding that "we rely heavily on farming, so all you want to do is encourage those upcoming young people to take farming seriously, because farming allows you to make a living just like all other graduates."

The Eiseb Farmers Association Committee members say they are waiting for the construction of modern auction pens through the government to provide better services to local communities.

Kavari also calls for collaboration among farmer associations in the region to better the agricultural sector.
