No value-added tax will be charged on sanitary pad products as of early next year.

The Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises announced in a statement that the No Value Added Tax Amendment Act, 2022, will come into effect on January 1, 2023.

It says the amendments to the Act include the re-classification of the supply of sanitary pads as a zero-rated supply, meaning that no VAT is to be charged on sanitary pad products as of that date.

The ministry reminds all vendors to adjust their sales systems in order to implement the new provision of the law and accordingly provide the necessary relief on the cost of these products to consumers.
