Traffic volumes have picked up on the B2 road as holidaymakers head home after vacations at the coastal towns of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.

Two thousand vehicles passed through the Swakopmund roadblock on Monday afternoon.

Swakopmund Mayor Dina Namubes is overwhelmed by the number of visitors who have chosen Swakopmund as their vacation destination.
 
This can be seen on beaches as well as at other recreational facilities that were crowded by visitors from as far away as Angola, Botswana, and South Africa.
 
Others enjoyed activities such as camel riding, quad biking, and sandboarding.

She further assured the holidaymakers that the town will be upgraded with a desert luxury train, a zoo park, and a tour of its informal settlement.

"There are a lot of changes coming up differently; they are going to see the bungalows being upgraded if they come back; it's not going to be the old bungalows; we are going to do face-lifts on the bungalows; there are a lot of things coming up; let them come back; I am very happy to receive them again."

Business owners are urged to upgrade their services to attract more tourists to the region. 

"I would like to advise my business owners to go out and try their level best to really upgrade their accommodations, the hotels, and restaurants. Service delivery is really very important; with the best services, you can attract a lot of people. Think about the prices. Prices have either pushing or pulling factors, so let's have pulling factors so more people are already spending a lot. Let's not disappoint our visitors. Let's  try and improve."
