The Khomas Regional Council concluded its visits to the Windhoek Rural Constituency aimed at assessing the status of boreholes drilled in the area.

The delegation assessed boreholes at the Satan Slog settlement, Enos and Ernest, and Diep Rivier.

They also visited the construction of toilets at Khanubeb and the youth gardening project at Nauaspoort.

A borehole at Enos and Ernest was not functioning due to a lack of water.

The residents at the visited sites have identified areas where a borehole can be drilled. although the water might not be fit for consumption.

The Chairperson of the Khomas Regional Council, Shalukeni Moonde, highlighted his impressions.

"We are happy with the implementations. Today we are in Windhoek Rural, where we mostly have boreholes and toilets. For the boreholes, we always set aside N$1.4 million for water provision in Windhoek Rural. The challenge is accessibility to these facilities from our side; as you have seen, the road is a bit challenging, and mind you, it is not only water we provide. During the drought, we also provide food to these settlements and bring a truck here, even having the truck to drill these boreholes is a big challenge. You see, it is like 30 kilometers from Windhoek to get here, and it took us close to two hours to reach this place. But it is also a big challenge because the road is not well paved for most of the vehicles."
